About Texas Advertising Group
Texas Advertising Group (TAG) is a student organization at The University of Texas at Austin that facilitates the relationship and continual conversation between advertising hopefuls and industry professionals. TAG holds weekly meetings at which agency figures speak about ongoing trends in advertising, tips on getting a job in this hectic industry, the day-to-day activities of life at an agency, and more.
In addition, TAG participates in volunteer events with agencies to promote networking and public service, hosts student trips to Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco to visit ad agencies in some of the most progressive cities in the country, and works closely with the Austin Advertising Federation to link students to the local advertising industry.
TAG prides itself on the level of involvement from its members. TAG members are not only involved within the organization, but are also active leaders on campus and in the industry.
You do not have to be an advertising major to join TAG! Click any of the links below to learn more about what TAG has to offer:
TAG's weekly meetings provide students with the opportunity to receive face-to-face interaction with advertising professionals. TAG offers a wide variety of guest speakers and topics to familiarize our members with the ins and outs of the industry. Guest speakers come from across the street and across the country, and have included professors, account supervisors, creative directors, media moguls, and more.
TAG socials are held monthly at local popular restaurants, the movies, the bowling alley, and just about anywhere you can imagine. Socials are free to all members and serve as a breather from the fast-paced personality of classes and the ad industry while meeting and interacting with other members.

Every month, TAG visits local agency visits to serve as another networking outlet and as a way for members to see for themselves the craziness and excitement that is advertising. Students also learn a great deal about the unique corporate culture present within each firm. In addition, agency visits have prompted many to apply for subsequent internships.

Every spring, twenty TAG students are chosen to participate in the annual spring break networking trip. The students travel to New York where they meet with Texas Exes, visit agencies and network with industry professionals working in the world's advertising mecca. The trip serves as an invaluable experience to those who participate and helps to build a stronger foundation and network for students.
In addition to the annual New York City trip, TAG has hosted other student trips to San Francisco and Los Angeles. Future trips may include visits to Dallas ad agencies and Chicago.
TAG has had a long history of volunteering and cooperative teamwork with the Austin Advertising Federation and local advertising agencies. This semester, TAG members have volunteered for Arts From the Streets, EnviroMedia's Trash-Off, the Austin Addy's and more. These volunteer opportunities allow students to interact with advertising professionals while working for a greater cause.
